A day that offers opportunity. Opportunity to get things done. Opportunity to touch others in a way that improves their lives. Opportunity to develop gifts and talents. Opportunity to reach a goal.
Seriously, the list of opportunities can go on and on – making a very long list. On the one hand it’s a great privilege to live in a time and place that provides so much opportunity. On the other hand, the long list can lead to frustration and guilt from not accomplishing a fraction of what we hoped.
So where do we start?
Let’s start with priorities. What are your priorities? Not the ones you would list on paper if I asked you to stop everything and write your list of what is most important to you. But the priorities that pop up each day and place themselves on the top of your list. If I’m perfectly honest, my priorities are tasks. Tasks seem to make me feel like I am accomplishing something by completing them. Yet, at the end of the day, I find that when I fill my day with menial tasks I’m left feeling empty and unsatisfied. And before I know it I’m questioning my worth.
So, how about, if today we create that list – you know, the one you would write if I asked you what your priorities are. Family, friends, pursuit of a dream, random acts of kindness, etc. And what if you chose just one thing off that list, and intentionally do it.
It doesn’t have to be a big thing. Simplify. Keep things simple and doable so that you aren’t overwhelmed with one more thing to do. I challenge you to see that by making time to do those things that are true priorities, they will bring a satisfaction to your soul.
Today. Do it! You will feel much better when you put your head on your pillow tonight.

This is a great suggestion. You described exactly how my day goes and how frustrated I am at the end of the day. So I am going to pick one thing as I know what it will be. To do my art projects.

Good for you Monica! Let me know how it goes! I find setting small reasonable goals throughout the day helps. Enjoy your day!
